About Civic Core Institute
Making UK political finance transparent and accessible to everyone.
Our Mission
Civic Core Institute exists to make UK political finance transparent and accessible to everyone. We aggregate, structure, and analyse publicly available data about Members of Parliament to empower citizens, journalists, and researchers with the information they need to hold power accountable.
What We Do
Aggregate Data
We collect data from 18 official sources including Parliament, the Electoral Commission, IPSA, Companies House, ONS, DWP, Home Office, and MOJ into a single, searchable platform.
Analyse Patterns
We identify potential conflicts of interest, track donation flows, model political projections, and surface anomalies that warrant public attention.
Enable Transparency
Free public access to MP profiles, voting records, expenses, constituency data, and area-level metrics. Premium API for researchers and institutions.
Maintain Independence
We are non-partisan and not affiliated with any political party, government body, or lobbying organisation.
Our Methodology
Data Collection: We ingest data from official APIs and published datasets on a regular schedule. All data is timestamped and versioned for auditability.
Analysis: Our conflict scoring algorithm examines correlations between income sources, shareholdings, donations, and voting patterns. High scores indicate statistical patterns worthy of scrutiny, not wrongdoing.
Verification: Where possible, we cross-reference data with Companies House and other registries to verify entity information.
Attribution: We maintain clear attribution to source agencies. See our Data Sources page for details.
Our Values
Accuracy
We prioritize correctness over speed. Errors are corrected promptly and transparently.
Impartiality
We apply the same standards to all MPs regardless of party affiliation.
Accessibility
Core transparency data is free. Complexity should not be a barrier to civic engagement.
