Contingency accommodation: temporary accommodation (including hotels) used when there is insufficient Initial or Dispersal accommodation available. Local-authority breakdown available from 2022-Q4. Local authority and region data are only available for Section 98 from 31 December 2022 onwards. Not comparable before 2023-Q1: All Section 4 recipients prior to 31 March 2023 are shown in the tables as within 'Dispersal accommodation'. However, since March 2020, where dispersal accommodation was not available some individuals in receipt of Section 4 support have been housed in contingency hotels to prevent destitution.
The metrics below move with Asylum support: Hotel accommodation across UK places. A positive correlation means the two tend to rise together; a negative one means as this rises, the other tends to fall.
Data: precomputed cross-metric correlations (latest period).
